How do I know if I need a dietitian? You may benefit from seeing a dietitian if you have health conditions like diabetes, high cholesterol, IBS, or food intolerances, or if you want support with weight management, sports performance, or overall wellbeing. Dietitians also help with disordered eating, emotional eating, or navigating dietary restrictions. They provide personalised, evidence-based guidance, helping you understand your nutrition, set realistic goals, overcome challenges, and make sustainable changes that fit your lifestyle, preferences, and health objectives safely and effectively.
How can a registered dietitian help me with my health and wellness goals? A registered dietitian guides you through nutrition to support physical and mental health. Through personalised goal setting, education, practical cooking tips, behaviour change strategies, and ongoing support and motivation, you can build lasting habits. FerFit Dietetics and Nutrition offers evidence-based care across women’s health, fertility, paediatric nutrition, eating disorders, gut health, weight management, chronic conditions, and NDIS support. Consultations available in person or via telehealth to help you reach your health goals.
What can I expect during a nutrition consultation? During an initial consultation your dietitian will complete a thorough nutrition assessment, including obtaining information about your health history, dietary patterns, lifestyle and any specific goals or concerns you have. Based on the nutrition assessment, your dietitian will collaborate with you to develop a personalised nutrition plan that aligns with your goals and preferences. Your dietitian will help you set realistic and achievable goals, assist you with overcoming any obstacles and provide you with the necessary education and resources to help you succeed.
Will I need a strict diet, and how quickly can I see results while making lasting changes? You don’t need to follow a strict or restrictive diet to work with a dietitian. Dietitians focus on personalised, practical strategies that fit your lifestyle and preferences. Results vary depending on your goals and starting point, but guidance is designed to help you see progress safely and realistically. Importantly, dietitians support long-term behaviour change, helping you build sustainable habits, overcome challenges, and maintain improvements, so the positive changes you make last well beyond the consultation.
